Windy and chilly ?

Asked by: 16th January 2013 ,

Another weather question surprise surprise! We went to Costa Teguise last Feb and the weather was very windy and especially chilly in the evenings, I did read something saying last year was a particularly bad year for weather in lanzarote just wondered if this is coorect or if its common for Feb. We are going again 31st Jan for a week, and to be honest i dont care too much as its a gorgeous place and anything is better than -10 and snow which we had here this morning!!!

I’m in Lanzarote every February and yes, last year was bloomin’ awful and certainly not per the norm – the norm being a little windy? yes, cardigans required if sitting outside of an evening and yes, bathing costumes or shorts / t-shirts during the daytime.

I’ve booked again for next month as surely it won’t be as bad as last year (hopefully)!!

Was particularly cold then even in north africa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_2012_European_cold_wave but we still managed time on the beach when the sun came out and, as you say, better than the Siberian weather here!

We were there for Two Weeks last April, the wind was so strong that not once did we spend time on the Beach, but it was lovely and warm by the pool.

Was in PB in Feb 2011 and was pleasantly surprised how warm it was. When I was in CT in Sept 2012 remember taking to a restaurant worker who said Feb 2012 was cold and not the norm. Apparently the summer was mega hot though…nit just UK that has freakish weather

Kayla, yes Lanzarote had a very odd year in 2012 for the weather. we went for 3 weeks in august 2012 and even the locals were complaining that it was too hot some days, 4 days we had temperatures in excess of 40 c. if you look at this website you can see what the weather was like on any day. any month, any year for lanzarote, you just need to adjust the year and then the month you want to compare, then you will see what the daily temperature was, min and max temps, and if there was any rainfall, and what the wind speed was. just go to:-

    thanks
