    Hope the above link works.

Go to the website above, choose your destination country, then select “Entry Requirements”. You will see exactly what is required for passport validity.

But quick answer is yes you can use it to go to Spain, as long as you return by the expiry date. Some countries do require 3 or 6 months still on the passport after your return date, but Europe and even USA, it can be used to the very end.

You can renew your passport with up to 9 months left on it and that time will be added to extend your new passport date.

We were in a similar situation with my daughter’s once. Rang the Passport Office – YES, as long as we were back here in the UK before it ran out.

You’ve got time to renew though and your new one will start as your current one expires.

    Enjoy your holiday.

We traveled to Lanzarote last november with passports running out in early february. My hubby was concerned and contacted the passport office who informed him that it is actually the airlines who decide (we thought this was rather odd too!) We rang Jet2 and they were fine with our passports but did say that the larger airlines, Thompson, Thomas Cook etc would not have allowed us to fly. Best check with the airlines directly, hope this helps.
