Where to stay in Costa Teguise ?

Asked by: 20th September 2013 , ,

We have visited Lanzarote a few times and love CT.  We stayed in Celeste and Galeon Playa Apartments and found these to ok for what we paid.  We are hoping to return in November and would love to stay somewhere a bit more comfertable, sc apartments or hotel, we don’t mind.  A must is to be near the sea and restaurants.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.  Also, has anyone stayed at the Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa as I can get this for peanuts!  Thank you, Nicola.

arrecife grand is lovely, right in the beach fantastic views! why not do a two centre hoilday? self cater first week then arrecife grand the next? have you tried sands beach resort, bit further out along the coastline but really nice self catering accomodation, bit less basic than the others you mentioned.

Thank you David, we also enjoyed the Galeon, especially the location, first class. My gripe was also with the beds, solid! and we were really cold at night with the wind blowing at the back of the building (feb). It’s a shame because the location and staff could not be better. Will look out for you, hopefully going last week in nov. Have a great time, Nicola.

We used them all and sellotaped the bottoms of curtains to the wall!! We had to laugh, it all makes good holiday memories and would never put me off visiting this fabulous island, love it 🙂

We too like the Galeon Playa – request a room overlooking the Teguise Playa (or whatever it is called these days). (my profile photo was taken from the balcony of a room we had one time) We haven’t been bothered any noise – this time our apartment had the balcony at the front and our bedroom looked out over the pool.

We stayed there mid-May and did wander round to ‘the other side’ – yes it was a bit windy so no wonder you had to sellotape your curtains (so funny). No one was in that pool, that’s for sure. It wouldn’t be CT without the wind though.

Can’t really beat GP for location.

Have visited friends at ‘Sands’ when it was the Lanzarote Beach Club – lots of steps – and because it is higgledy-piggledy it makes the little areas seem more private. Maybe someone could suggest which parts are better.

Los Zocos apartments seemed a good size but neither of these may be as near to the sea and restaurants as you may want really.

Stick to GP with its new mattresses and email them to request where you would like your room to be.

    Have a lovely holiday.

Thanks for your replies. We have just booked Galeon Playa, after trawling the internet for apartments, but could not beat Jet2 holidays prices!! Emailed GP for floor plan of complex and hopefully will get good apartment with new mattresses. Can’t wait, not even going to do breakfasts this time – have you tried the little hut opposite the Teguise Playa, they do great toasted sarnies and coffee! Thanks again, Nicola.

dear wendy middleton. you say you visited friends at sands beach when it was a different name and you say there are lots of steps. we have been there for the last 5 years with our son in a wheelchair. these apartments are well equipped for people with limited mobity. ramps everywhere. dont put people off by saying these things if you havent been recently. i have, like 2 days ago.

      Dear Ian,

My reply was to a question about proximity to the sea and restaurants and I mentioned ‘Sands’ as someone else had. ‘Higgledy-piggledy’ was a description of the complex and I wrote ‘lots of steps’ to indicate the different levels.

Yes, there were ramps too and I just hope that they have made them more shallow, as they have in lots of places around CT now. Our friends used to struggle when they had an adult family member with them in a wheelchair.

I wouldn’t have thought I would have put people off staying at Sands as they would know by my reply that I hadn’t stayed there recently. There are specific questions listed where people can look for information regarding wheelchair friendly places or if they can’t find what they are looking for they can ask a new question which I’m sure someone would answer.

As I said, my reply was ‘location’ related.

    Hi Nicola,

I don’t know if GP emailed you a floor plan but I’ve just come across mine.

Block E1 is on the corner over the shops. We stayed in one of these rooms once (can’t remember which) and had a corner balcony – one side looked out onto Jabillo beach and the other looked across at Ben’s Bazaar. The living room had a massive window looking across at the beach too.

In May we stayed in E2 on the top floor – nice view again of the beach.

We have stayed in E5 (at the side) and E7 (right in the middle) however I think you must have stayed in E8, E9 or E10 on the ‘breezy’ 🙂 side.

If you haven’t got a floor plan, I hope that you can picture how the blocks are arranged – E1, 2 and 3 above the shops (from right to left), E4 and 5 down the side. E6 on the corner. E7 right in the middle. E8, 9 and 10 across the back overlooking the Cucharras and E11 next to the bar.

Hope you have a lovely holiday – enjoy a comfy night’s sleep on a new mattress without the curtains billowing all night and enjoy your days in the sun.

    Wendy x
