Where is the Cheapest Car Rental in Lanzarote?

Asked by: 21st January 2011 ,

Hi, I am looking for an economic car for a 1 week rental, to pickup at the airport. I need to find the cheapest place (cheaper than chains like Avis or Hertz). Any recommendations ? Thanks folks, much appreciated!

Never rent a car directly at the airport, prices are always higher there because they have to pay their office location…

I book on line, well in advance, with autoreisen and collect at the airport. Usually costs £75 – £90 depending on when booked and exchange rate

I always book in advance and use Autoreisen based in the airport – they are very helpful and you just return the car with the same amount of fuel not pay for a whole tank up front like most of the other companys, also they give you a 2nd driver free of charge.

hi justin, we always do as howard and karen have done. you can do the paper work while waiting for your cases. autoreisen is the car hire with the longest queue, so the masses can’t be wrong. book in advance. happy hols. carole.

I have used Atoreisen a couple of times they are very good. Hired from Autos Pluscar last time because our daughter was driving and is 24 Autoreissen dont allow drivers under 25.Pluscar were great hire price was all inclusive, watch out when pre booking with some companies there are loads of add ons when you get there. Will be using Pluscar next time even though daughter will be 25 and a far better driver than most in Lanzarote||||||||

http://www.pluscar-lanzarote.com/ – it was in my case cheaper than autoreisen, and people recommended it on tripadvisor and some forums, so I hope it will be OK 🙂

Ali Tip check car for damage and take photos of car at start ans end of hire period. I always do and Pluscar were happy to be paid in cash or debit card. They unlike others did not want a credit card. Beware using a credit card abroad payments can be taken from your account without your authorisation. Have a nice time.

We only recommend Plus Car not only do they have great prices, they offer an excellent service. Very easy to collect the car, no deposit payment required, no hidden charges, two drivers, free child seats and fantastic drop off. There are no additional charges for hiring from the airport.

Beware using cheap hire firms because you can get older less reliable cars and some areas of Lanza are quite remote should you have problems. Recommend booking online with either Autoreisen or Cabrera Medina. These firms give good service and often have offers online. Go straight to the car hire booths whilst your partner collects the cases. This way you will sort your car keys out in less than 10 minutes and often before the cases come out.
Comments about Pluscar and credit cards are valid but you should not have a problem with the bigger companies. In any event shop around online first!!

i hire a car everytime i visit lanarote ,simply book online and print off the booking confirmation (if you dont do this you will be charged the price at that time ) http://www.tenerife-hire-a-car.com/car_hire/carhiretenerife.html

We use Cabrera Medina and have done for 15+ years. Usually go twice a year and never had any problems. Good customer service and good cars. Second driver, roof racks, child seats etc are free. No paying for full tank of fuel. Reserve online and pay on pickup at the airport. You don’t need to print our booking confirmation off to get the price you booked at. It is on their reservations system.

Hi, I`m so glad I came across this, i`m off to Lanzarote in a couple of weeks, i emailed all hire car companys regarding wether or not i need a credit card (as i don`t have one) all of them said yes apart from Cabrera Medina, so have booked with them but I am still nervous that when i arrive I will get asked for one and will get some hidden charges thrown at me! I have been quoted 119 euros for the week , so please someone put my mind at rest , will this be what I will have to pay on pick up or will there be anything else?? Many thanks in advance.

Hi we have used Cabrera Medina for quite a few years and never had any problems. Good cars and good customer service. We are there for a week in March and will use them again.

Cicar at Airport arrivals rent you a Opel Corsa 5 doors for 100€/week
    free km, full insurances.
3rd time I rent there never had problems.
I was there 2 weeks ago.
Do not hesitate to ask this price b’cause they first try 125 € but say that your friend rent a car 2 weeks ago for 100… it works !!!
You do not have to book online (more expensive!).
You can pay cash or credit card.
The cars are in the parking just in front of arrivals.
