What’s the weather like in august ? Is the wind bad ?

Asked by: 24th March 2014 ,

Hi travelling to costa teguise first time in august, read a lot of reviews about weather and bad wind just wondering if this is true and what the weathers like in august? What temperatures does it range from. Is it breezy at night or will I need a cardigan ? Thank you in advance

In my experience you will be glad of the wind in August. It can be very hot in the daytime but at night it is very pleasant and I very much doubt you would need a cardi. What I like about the island is that although it is quite hot at night it is quite comfortable for sleeping and is not humid like mainland Spain or the Mediterranean islands.

Bethany – it will be hot and breezy. Don’t let the breeze fool you, you still needs loads of cream and to cover up. I always used to tie my daughter’s hair up during the day because of the wind.

    I’m sure you’ll have a fabulous time 🙂

Aww good is it a cold breeze? I feel the cold easily . I can’t wait to go with the sound of temperatures it’s just a lot negative reviews concerning wind that’s putting me in doubt that it will feel cold cause of wind

Bethany, no problems at all with the weather in August as people have already stated you will be glad of the breeze, but just be carefull you can still get burnt even quicker because of that breeze. last year we were there in October and not once did we need a coat even at 2am in the morning still in shorts and polo shirt, (what I can remember of it that is). the year before 2012 in august we had extreme weather 4 days of intense heat upto 130 f for 4 consecutive days this due to winds coming from Africa. but you will have a great time, so many people return to ct every year. this year will be our 15 year, even our daughters love the place. just need those lottery nos to come up then will be there even more

Bethany, Like Dave Love says, you’ll be glad of the breeze.

You have probably seen that everyone always says its windy in CT, which it is – but not all day long. It varies…..breezy, strong breezy, windy 🙂

Even if you do feel the cold I’m sure you will be OK and you’ll go back again and again.

It’s always breezy in the morning, tends to die down by midday, then a bit breezy at night. The breeze is welcome at night to enable a good sleep, no humidity problems at night.

Never a cold breeze, keeps the temperature on your body on a even level, unless you get burnt that is!

Bethany I used to work with a girl who hated the wind in Lanzarote so much so she as never been back
I on the other hand I have been going for 20 + years and I never find the wind a problem unless I have had a curry

Omg…. Just go and enjoy… Costa teguise is a lovely place, any time of the year, so what some wind,,, am sure you will enjoy.. Better than back in uk!!!

I will enjoy it but everyone has there preferences some people don’t
Mind the wind some do. Any weathers better than the uk I agree with that

I think you have hit the nail on the head Bethany. It’s each to their own view. We always find it warm/hot and the wind is very welcome. The only draw back sometimes is when it is in a certain direction you can get a bit sand blasted on the beach. However, give me the choice of sand blasting on Lanzarote, or getting soaked in Manchester. Hmmmmm tricky one that 🙂
