From previous questions about “car hire” on this site, looks like Autoreisen is the favourite of many people for 2011/2012.

    • Jo on Jul 01, 2012

Cheers for the reply Michael, Autoreisen it is then

Hi Jo. We have booked ours throught Cicar this year some good deals.
New model Meriva £220 e for 2 weeks..

    • Jo on Jul 01, 2012

Hi Ken, I have looked at Cicar and the price seems to go up quite a lot when we are going out to Lanzarote at the start of august so i think i will probably go for Autoreisen, cheers and have a good evening Jo/Mark

We have booked a car for November with Autoreisen 11 days for £119 (143 Euro) Nothing to pay till we pick up at the airport and no cancellation fee. Normally wait till we get there but this was to good a deal to miss.(5 door with air-con)

    • Jo on Jul 01, 2012

Hi Helen, It looks like it is going to cost us around £250 for the 2 weeks while we are there in August as we need quite a decent size car as there will be 5 of us plus the luggage etc. Anyway, we will try to leave the place intact for you in November when we leave. 🙂
Thanks again for your help, Jo & Mark

Tried a few – Autoreishen by miles. We went back 3 times in one year and on the 2nd and 3rd visit we had the same car from the first visit. They said as we were regular with them they tried to keep the same car available for us.

    • Jo on Jul 01, 2012

Thanks Jason, It sounds like they look after you then, so i think they will be the one’s we hounour with our business. LOL. All the best Jo & Mark

I always use Autoreisen. check out their website and reserve on line, pay when you pick up the car. as previously said they remember regular customers and we have been upgraded a few times with no extra cost from what we had booked in advance. very highly recommended.

    • Jo on Jul 01, 2012

Well gfgmad (cool name by the way), so many people can’t be wrong so it’s Autoreisen all the way then. Thanks for being a helpfull chap/chapess and enjoy your evening, Jo & Mark 🙂

Its agreed Autoreisen are the best but why cant they all be a little more competitive in school holidays

  8. Ken on Jul 01, 2012

Jo just looked at first 2 weeks in August with Cicar e 373 we are going last 2 weeks of July
    e 22o some difference.

    Have a good holiday…

    • Jo on Jul 02, 2012

Yes, some difference there Ken, it’s the same all over though, planes, hotels etc, if you have kids it appears you are fair game to be charged more.

    • Jo on Jul 02, 2012

Thanks ken, we have been going to Costa teguise for the past 8 years, love it, love it, love it. Missed only 1 year when we took the girls to Florida Disney and hasd a great time there as well. We asked the girls where they would like to go the following year and guess what?Lanzarote please mum 🙂

  9. Ken on Jul 01, 2012

We are the same need car for 5 people and 3 or 4 cases.

    • Jo on Jul 02, 2012

I think i am going to go for the small Citroen Xsara Picasso, seems like a decent size for us all but not overkill. Still, going to Costa Teguise we will probably save around 35-40e in cab fares.

Ken i have had the same shock many times when trying to book in August cant make out why it jumps so much still the same car

    • Jo on Jul 02, 2012

I think the car prices seem to jump with your fertility rate David, you have children with you so you pay pro rata? 🙁

  11. paul on Jul 02, 2012

Same as everything, flights, hotels etc. they hold people to ransom knowing that its the main school holidays. i used to take my daughter out of school, so much cheaper paying the fine imposed by the local authority than paying sky high prices and it never affected her education.

    • Jo on Jul 02, 2012

I used to do that as well Paul, easy when they were 7 and 3 years old, but now they are 14 and 11 it is near impossible to do.

  12. nick wright on Jul 02, 2012

Joe still think autoreisen looks best bet

    • Jo on Jul 02, 2012

Yes, Autoreisen is going to be the one, only 30 days to go before we arrive, still, who’s counting? ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

  13. Ken on Jul 02, 2012

2 weeks from tomorrow for us!!!!
    3 kids Jo.

Have you priced villa’s cheaper than hotels for a family…

    • Jo on Jul 03, 2012

Hi Ken, we go in a private bungalow and pay for our flights seperately, we always have. It has 3 bedrooms Large Kitchen/Lounge plus 2 bathrooms. Patio front and back superb. I think it would feel really clostraphobic in a hotel after being spoilt with all that space.

  14. David myers on Jul 03, 2012

Although i have to go in school holidays its not due to my kids as there grown up its my wifes part time job at the local school thats the problem. but what puzzles me is the fact that the Canaries are open for business all year round unlike other destinations so why do they need to hike the price when they have a 12 month period to earn money not 6 months like the Balearics, I must sound like i am having a pop but its still my favorite place

    • Jo on Jul 03, 2012

Ithink in this economic climate any money that is to be made, MUST be made and as much as possible i suppose. That seems to be the mentality of the thing. But yes, i still love it as well despite all my gripeing about costs. I always know i am going to have a perfect holiday and a wonderful time….priceless 🙂

Coming out next week and we’ve booked with Plus Car this time. It was a fair bit cheaper than Autoreisen. Having said that, Autoreisen have always been decent cars in the past.

    • Jo on Jul 04, 2012

Thanks kitty but i think is is going to be a Citroen Xsara Picasso from Autoreisen this time. Have a great time and enjoy the sun, Jo
