Self catering accomodation in Costa Teguise ?

Asked by: 4th February 2013 ,

My husband and I (!!!) have stayed at the Coronas Playa for a fortnight in September for the last three years. We would like to have a break for about ten days in the spring, but have to look at cheaper options than the Coronas. Can anyone recommend an apartment for the two of us, either at Playa Bastian or Los Molinos, and the best (i.e. cheapest) airline to fly with from East Midlands airport..

Jackie, why not try the las coronas apartments which are right next door to the coronas playa hotel. you will find most of these private apartments are advertised on “lanzarote breaks” website. regarding the airfares, firstly i would advise you to stay away from the school holiday dates, as the airlines more than double there fares during these times. if you look at skyscanners they will show you all of the airfares from low to high prices. suggest you book sooner rather than later as the airfares now get dearer as the the time gets nearer unlike a few years ago when the prices went down as you got nearer the date you wanted to fly
    hope this helps you

Hi Jackie, East Midlands airport, you are limited to just Thomas Cook, Ryan Air,Monarch only at certain times of the year, and Jet2. I use jet2. The nearer you get to when your going the dearer the fares get. It is best to book weeks or even months in advance,as I do now. This year all the airlines seem to have put their prices up quite a bit, but stay clear of school holidays. I check out all the airlines direct online and then choose which one,and book it that way.
    Good luck with your booking/

    Hi Jackie,
Why not try the Santa Rosa which is directly across the road from the Coronas Playa.
We stayed there in November 2012 for 3 weeks and really enjoyed the place, they have hotel rooms and apartments, we stayed on half board basis but they also have self catering and full board options. We booked with Thomas Cook but have also been with Monarch.
    Happy hunting

Thank you all for your suggestions. I shall have a look at the accomodation you have suggested. Will stick to East Mids airport, as we only live ten minutes away! We’re two oldies (celebrate 50 years marriage in July) so not very adventurous on going it alone, but will bite the bullet and see what happens!

We used the Neptuno Apts in January – basic but clean – fantastic location – Bottom of Avenida De Jubillio – ask for a sea view – great to wake up to every morning – sea view and the small Punto Jabillio – easy walking distance to resort amenities

Hi Jackie, my wife and myself stay at Neptuno Apts. several times a year its quiet, well situated
and cheap. They now do B+B, before it was just self catering. The staff are helpful, the place is clean but basic. We book flights and accomodation separately . We use Hotels 4u and Travel republic. Hope you have a good stay , cant wait to get back myself.

Well, after all your helpful advise,we chicken out and booked hotel accommodation! Have booked two week all inclusive (only option as booked with Skytours) at the Barcelo La Galea. Hoping we will be okay, as we have been in 4 star for a number of years, and this hotel is 3 star. Obviously won’t get the service we are used to at the Coronas Playa, but at £650 cheaper, we will be hopefully be able to have two holidays this year!!! If anyone has any feed back on La Galea, would be grateful. Trip Advisor comments mostly positive, so fingers crossed!

      Hi Jackie
Stayed at Barcelo la Galea a few years back – self catering only so cannot comment on food. Complex itself is very well situated – popped our noses through the doors in January – still looks lovely – well kept and clean.
Good decision not to stay at Neptuno – we booked there in January – worst experience ever in Lanzarote – dingy, dark, damp, smelly to name but a few of the complaints. Only stayed one night!
Hope you have a good holiday at the Galea!

You could try the Celeste Apartments. Right in the middle of everything but still quiet. £25 per room per night if you avoid the school hols. Wish I was going!
