I think there are more mosquitoes in Fuerteventura 🙂 I never saw a lot in Lanzarote, so no need to worry Jeremy.

You will find traveller mosquito plug in the supermarkets if you really need one, but I never use this kind of product on the island.

We have been to Lanzarote 3 times (summer and winter) and never seen a mosquito! unlike Greece where we get bitten all the time.

We have been going to Lanzarote twice a year for 15 years and we have never been bitten once.

I think I’m the world’s expert on mossies having been bitten all over Europe. Nothing works to prevent the bites except avoiding the little creatures in the first place. No fears in Lanzarote however – been many many times and never been bitten.

hi jeremy, my other half ray, bless him,is the most desirable piece of meat to the mossies.they actually check the arrival times at the air port for him. the doors open, and they have him. he gets some nasty bites, and this has happened every year for the 29yrs we have been visiting. with me they get me once a visit. he’se a crack shot with the tea towel. dead mossies, wings, legs and blood, litter the walls and ceilings, that has to be cleaned off before the cleaners come in. this may sound heavy ,but if they don’t bite you,it will be easy to say that you have never seen them in lanzarote. beware they are there !!! . carole happy hols

The mozzies love to feast on me but in 25 years of visiting Lanzarote I’ve never been bitten. They are not a problem.

    Interesting answers by everyone !
Ive always managed to pick up a few bites if im honest, but in recent years in Play Blanca ive been bitten quite badly. And the wounds once they develop from a kind of obvious lumpy bite to then an open sore can look awful..

I think its variable as to where your staying.. Ive been told that mossies are less of a problem further in land away from the resorts.. Mossies thrive and breed from water, particulary if its a poorly maintained swimming pool ! ! It may not be your pool, but another not very well looked after pool nearby !

You can buy pop up mosquito nets off the internet now,,which will go over a bed for quite reasonable money … Most bites happen at night when your asleep and it literally takes seconds… none of this chewing on you for ages business ! lol

The other thing im told which works well… is if you have an appartment or villa with air conditioning….( ive never been so lucky ) put it on very cold before you go out for the evening,, mossies dont like the cold apparently ! ! !

If youve never been bitten in Lanz by one ,,, Then youve been lucky ! But they are around and they definately have the taste for a bite or two. . lol
