What about Nazarat mansions, celeste apartments, sol apartments, oceano apartments. Try a bit of self catering and see how cheap the resort is!

Stayed in the Oceano Apts in the last century, when they were called Playa Olid, that was when C T was cheap

Stayed at El Trebol last year – would give it 7 out of 10 – only because you have to hire the kettle and toaster!!! – Stayed 3 nights half board – food was alright with plenty of choices for breakfast and eveing meal. There are 4/5 pools (2 just for kids) and plenty of sunloungers. Even managed to pick up a few tv channels that were in English for free!!! – Would I stay there again – definitely.

Costa is cheap! When was the last time you were here?

I came back on wednesday – did self catering and ate out in different local restaurants – I never said it was expensive in Costa – just that you had to be aware that you would need to hire a kettle if staying in El Trebol – (some hotels provide for free)!!!! – I find eating out in Costa very reasonable – a small local restaurant just near to the Correos do a 3 course meal + drink for €7.50 – where in th UK would you be able to get that – and the food is excellent

Steve, we have been visting Lanzarote since 1992, sometimes twice a year, the last visit was Feb 2011 and like most places, prices have increased considerably, if you think it’s cheap you must have plenty of dosh.

Licolnshire lad, i have been here 5 years and in that time i have seen prices plummet. The supermarkets prices have dropped. 1.50 for a large beer in most bars. Chinese buffet for 4.50. As Karen said, a 3 course meal and a drink for 7.50. What do you call expensive!

I must agree with you Steve – have been going to Costa for the last 11 years – and the prices are not bad – but then I never buy English items only Spanish – for instance a very small bottle of Heinz salad cream is €2.30 – I just buy a large jar of their own brand mayo for about €1.30, prices in the last year especialy have been better since Lidl opened and I would expect them to stay this way as its rumoured that there is to be a Mercadona opening in the same building as Millar on the road to San Bart.

We seem to have gone off on a tangent about resort prices, my original question was where to I find the best deals to get to my favourite places, or Steves for that matter

Lincolnshire lad, i offered you some different options, ones that were predominantly self catering – you asked for advice, i offered some. I am sorry that it is not something you wanted to hear!

Steve you mention 7.5 euro for a 3 course meal but these deals are not in all restaurants just certain ones if you choose 3 courses in some it could be as much as 25 to 35 euros plus some places charge way over the odds for drinks with your meal, this year we found they varied lots 1.5 to as much as 4.5 euro but i agree you can eat very reasonably if your carefull, we dont go back if they over charge plus it a lot cheaper than main land Spain

We have just booked a late break through Thomas Cook for this week and got a very good deal. Have a look on their website but don’t forget it’s half term for schools soon so prices will go up then. Hope this helps

Just reading all the replies here. . . .seems to me that Lincs lad was only asking advice as to where he might get a late last minute holiday deal, but somehow its all turned into a debate about the cost of living whilst on holiday in Lanz !.. lol

For what it is worth , i still think its possible to grab yourself a last minute get-away deal, however it involves basically investing some time trawling the net and making a few phone calls etc , , The deals are there to be had, especially if hotels are just looking to fill vacant rooms when bookings are down…. As someone has already said, avoid any school holiday periods as both flights and accomodation prices rise dramatically. .
The other thing i would do is priorities looking for the “actual deal” rather than specific hotels or appartments if you get my meaning !

As for the actual cost of meals and items once your there. . . The food costs are basically the same as in the UK ! . . .Check out what your euro is worth these days, The glory days of low price food and drink when out and about are sadly gone ! . . You can get the odd good restaurant deal obviously but the reality of us all trying to scramble out of recession has bitten everyone on the ass in terms of rising costs !. . . And if you hadnt noticed how tough it is out there , , where you been ? the moon ? lol

Go get your deal Lincs lad ,,, im sure youl find one ,,, it is a buyers market if you can do a bit of digging and searching around…
