Is Lanzarotte colder than the other Islands ?

Asked by: 7th March 2012 ,

I ask this because i have tenerife and gran canaria webcams also.

When i check these as i did today there seems to be lots of people sunbathing and swimming.

The Beach here seems to be always empty.

I don’t think Lanzarote is colder than the other islands, it is definitely more windy. I too had been watching the webcam for Costa Teguise and thought the same but I was there last week and there are loads of people on the beach, obviously just can’t see them. As long as you get out of the wind you are fine, I’ve come back with a great tan after only a week.

Thank you for your answer. We go to lanza twice a year and stay self catering in Matagorda.
We normally vist CT a few times during our stay and like it. In fact we are checking at the moment where to stay in September.
The Sands Resort looks likely to be our choice.

Sands Beach is where we stopped, second time now, can recommend it, only thing I would advise try and get an apartment on the left of the complexes looking out to sea as then you get sun all afternoon and you are sheltered from the wind.

The location/view of the webcam is a big parameter, others webcams in Tenerife or Gran Canaria are probably located or showing a no-wind area.

Costa Teguise is a windy resort, but also full of no-wind area, even on the main beach. If the webcam was on the other side of the beach, you will see many people sunbathing )

I think Lanzarote is definately the coldest of the canary islands.
I have been to all of the main four this year already and Lanzarote was by far the coolest.
The hottest was Las Americas in Tenerife which was sweltering !
Costa Teguise was cold during the time in which I was there.
I know people mention the wind, but it was just in general cold regardless of the wind.

Cant relly go along with what Michael is saying if the beech is a windy area why as some one gone to the trouble of putting all the sun beds there, i was there in Feb and it was cold in and out of the wind not as good as other years but as i have said before in the winter warm weather is a bonus

Statistics prove that all the Canary islands are relatively the same temperature and climate wise. Lanzarote is no colder or hotter than any of the other islands.

whats the weather like in Playa Blanca at the moment, we are due to leave the UK this Saturday 17th March and have varying reports…….looking at web cams people seem to be wearing coats in the evening is it really that cool? would really like a truthful view! as we are taking our daughters who are looking forward to sunbathing! rented a private villa in Playa Blanca with its own pool so hopefully will be warm.

Does anyone know of the best supermarket to go to in Playa Blanca gtoo.

    Many thanks Teresa

Lanzarote is no colder or hotter than any of the other islands, I used to live in CT and have visited countless times, I have experienced 40c in May and in October, most of the year the weather is nice and hot. I remember it being so hot one Christmas day that you could not stand on the sand, spent half of that day in the sea, so the weather can vary like anywhere else I guess.
