I thought this site was a forum for people to enquire about the ins and outs of Lanza .
It must not be treated as an offshoot from The Jeremy Kyle program

I’m not so sure it’s the best in the world, but very close. I go to France a lot and Lanzarote beats it every time. The weather, beaches, bars and restaurants plus of course the works of Cesar Manrique make it an ideal holiday island.

    bit of a daft question

  4. Stas on Oct 12, 2014

If there were no sunny weather in Lanzarote & troubles in Africa/Middle East, I doubt most people will come back to the island, poor service/amenities compared to other places.

Not sure where you have stayed in the past Stas but I have never come across poor service and the amenities appear to be sufficient for the majority of people. Fortunately the sun will always shine on Lanzarote and unfortunately there will always be troubles in Africa/Middle East.

Maybe it would be better if you told us why you don’t think its the best
Daft question so lets have your daft answer

If you can rent a pleasant room cheaper in lanzarote than a b&b in the uk 30 years ago and have certain sunny weather, lanzarote has to be a good deal.Wish i could visit more than my usual twice a year for some warmth.Visit but leave your whingeing at home.

I have only been visiting Lanzarote for the last 5 years (relative newcomer) compared to some on this forum. All I will say is that I find it be a very safe and friendly place with lots of pleasant restaurants. I have made lots of friends whilst visiting and will continue to do so for the forseeable future and as others have mentioned the weather is usually great. Everyone has their own expectations when it comes to holidays and opinions but with what I and others have listed above what more is expected?

    It’s no Magaluf lol.

If a person wants Sun, Sea, Sand, and relaxation Lanzarote is the place.
If a person wants to stay out all night and in bed all day lanzarote is still the place to be

I agrre with Stas. I think most people here have only been to Lanzarote, thats why they like it so much.. If you had the chance to travel all over the world, you will see there are lot better places.

The original question was “Is Lanzarote overrated?” not “Is Lanzarote the best place in the world to holiday?”. For me the answer to both questions is “No”.

Jenny W K You are doing your best to stir things up on this forum, It is not for people like you .If you want to post stupid questions then expect stupid answers. If you dont like it stay away!!

I agree with both your answers Mr Grimsdale, just hope this doesn’t turn into another argument like the self catering v all inclusive. (just for the record i always go S/C )

  14. Paulokik on Oct 15, 2014

Maybe instead of saying its a “dumb” question, you could let us know why you think Lanzarote is so great.

  15. Tom Iles on Oct 15, 2014

Paulokik. I don’t agree with some of the replies here that it is a “dumb” question and I fear some of the comments will put people off using this site. After all, there is nothing wrong with a healthy debate. I think my first reply did actually state why I like Lanzarote so much. And yes, I have been to a lot of other places but admittedly mostly in Europe and America.

Tom I think Jenny should tell us why she doesn’t rate it as highly as her friend Kyle its something they must have chatted about so put us in the picture

  17. Frank on Oct 15, 2014

Jenny in my view the answer to your question is that it depends on what you are looking for. Clearly lots of people return time after time so clearly they rate it highly. I’m sure others visit and don’t rate it so highly and don’t return. I love it but one of my best friends would hate it – depends on what you are looking for.

I’ve been to most of the main European holiday destinations (Spain, Italy, France, Greece etc.) and also travelled further to Florida and the Carribean. I’ve done city visits to lots of European countries and the several places in USA and Canada. They all have different positive and negative points.

Another major factor is whether it is good value for money and what you can afford. You might be able to afford 3 holidays per year in the Bahamas but sorry I can’t.

As Barry has said, if you are looking for a sunny beach destination, a friendly location, lovely bars and restaurants, at a reasonable cost then I think Lanzarote is hard to beat but it’s only my opinion. I’m happy for the grumps to go elsewhere.

Never had any problems with poor service any where, ok the airport was last year when we went was a bit of a problem with queues going though security coming home, but they have now sorted that and when we came home last Sunday no problems what so ever
