Insect repellent in Lanzarote ?

Asked by: 2nd May 2012

We are going to Costa Teguise in June and as insects seem to like me I am wondering if I will need to take any insect repellent with me?

I have been bitten by mosquitos here many times, but we only get them when we have had a lot of rain and this is unlikely in June. I wouldn’t worry about bringing insect repellent with you – in the unlikely event that you need it you will find that it is widely available here

Ta Sue, just hope we don’t get any rain, we have enough of it here at the moment!

We stay over at Club La Santa and apart from some little ant type insects but there much smaller the only other thing you see is the odd cockroach outside

Thanks Steve, nice to know, although not too keen on cockroaches, odd or otherwise!

I’ve never had a problem in 30 years of coming here at various times of the year – and the mozzies usually love me! I think you will be pretty unlucky if you do have a problem. Having said that, this question has come up before and some people have reported suffering from bites. Hopefully you wont be one of them. Enjoy your hols

Thanks Kitty, it looks as if I will be o.k. Look forward to seeing Costa Teguise.

I would take some just in case. Better to be safe than waste time going to the shops to buy some whist your there.

Mozies, don’t normally go for me, but last December when we were there they were everywhere in our apartment.. It’s the only time I have ever suffered with this small annoyance, but it does become a bit of a pain. So, put some repellent in your case, there will still be plenty of room for shoes!!! 😉

OK Matt, maybe I will do that and as for shoes well husband carries the cases so I do pack a few pairs “just in case”.
