Foodies – best restaurants in Playa Blanca?

Asked by: 11th March 2011

We spent our first night here last night.  Incredible rain yesterday and this morning!

Following numerous recommendations, we ate at the Casa Pedro last night.  I was NOT impressed.  The food arrived suspiciously quickly (not freshly prepared) and my steak was overcooked.  The accompanying sauce was worse than those freely available at a supermarket.

I am a serious foodie and expect the best (and happy to pay for the privilege.) With this in mind, can anyone recommend decent restaurants in the area?  Not Chinese – preferably those with a take on local food.

Many thanks.

I enjoyed a fantastic firesh fish lunch at the Restaurante Playa Blanca just along from there.

We too had heard Casa Pedro was the one to try but we were put off from entering the restaurant and continued along the promenade. One of the specials at Restaurante Playa Blanca was seabass en sal, the fish was baked in a sea salt crust and then filleted at the table, which was divine with a cold glass of Lanzarote Vino Blanco Seco.

This restaurant also offers a good selection of local tapas and a menu del día.

I’ve also been told that Sebastyan at C.C. La Mulata and Aromas C/ La Laja are great places to eat but not tried them as yet.

Having visited playa blanca alot i would recommend
Los hervideros -run by a spanish family opposite the taxi rank in the centre of playa blanca and same side as the farmacie but in one of the back streets .It is a 2 storey restaurant.

El horno de la aguela spanish food .Up by lartista the italian on the front towards playa dorada beach cross the small back road and it is on the left.

el galeon in the carpark near the harbour is very good as well.

Had tried pedros before but felt very rushed and overpriced.

Been here a couple more days and can *highly* recommend El Mirador at Marina Rubicon.

This is the best food (two nights in a row) that I have had in several years.

The service is top-notch; no arrogance whatsoever from any of the waiting staff.

The starters in particular look fresh out of a high quality magazine, and my mains were on both nights simply stunning.

Slightly more expensive than other restaurants – but worth every single penny.

An absolute pleasure. The best service I have encountered in any restaurant in the Canaries and continental Europe.

We have another eight days left (the rain has not been welcome) and intend to eat at El Mirador at least half of those days.

Amazing – cannot rate this highly enough.
