Sorry but I can’t think of anywhere to hire fishing gear but if you go to the market in Teguise on Sunday you can buy a rod and reel fully equipped and ready to go for between
10-15 euro depending on your bargaining ability. preferred baits are bread for mullet or shrimp for other species. You can buy the shrimps frozen from any supermarket. Hope this helps.

There is a sports shop on Ave de Jabillio and they sell decent fishing rods but they were not cheap and you can also buy rods and tackle etc from some of the souvenir shops but they are only cheap rods. For bait we use bread or some little frozen fish from Spar.

We found you can buy a telescopic fishing rod and reel from Ebay for around £12.00 and it will fit in your suitcase and we find these to be better than the ones you can buy for the same money in the resort.

Thanks for the info Kath -I’ve been reading some of the other Q & A’s and it seems you don’t need any permits or licences to fish is that also correct?

You are supposed to have a permit but alot of people are saying not to bother. I have been fishing for the last 6 years and never been asked and I was not aware until recently that you actually needed one
