I have done AI and self catering and I do find the AI works out cheaper
The food was good in the ones I stayed, also I find Playa Blanca does have good AI hotels

The more you drink the cheaper it gets!

It depends on whether you view food as sustenance or an experience to be enjoyed and I know there are times especially with young kids that dinner time is purely for sustenance! Unless you are going top-end, AI food will suffice for sustenance rather than a lovely dining experience.

did it once never again,i like complete freedom, stay where i want, eat where i want, travel when and with who i want.I would think about AI if i had a large family but at 71 years of age and a lone traveller AI no way hosay GinaD.

AI is best . You know exactly what you are getting and you can have as much grub and drink as you like.
    AI….. Bring it on. !!!

Like David I like the complete freedom to eat where and when we want the fact is there are so many good places to eat there your spoilt for choice

If you are staying in Costa Teguise I could only recommend self catering there are great places to eat and drink at a very reasonable cost, we went A/I to Playa Blanca and have to say it was very good but for us in Lanzarote Self catering is the best.

The problem with AI is, that it kills local bars and restuarants. So, for that reason, I say not foe me although fully accept that it is ideal for families on a fixed budget. And for the ‘Lets Get It Down Our Neck The Fastest’ brigade of course, oh to be civilised…

Not to sure I agree with your comment Fred regards AI kills local bars and restaurant’s
Every time I shop at the super markets I find them very busy with people buying all there food and drinks for there entire stay because that’s the cheapest way to holiday by not spending in the local bars and restaurants
Plus if AI serve food as bad as lots of people say surely these people would be forced into using the restaurants which helps the locals

To answer Gina’s question, undoubtedly yes. I have stayed on an AI package before and found the food and drink acceptable although not great. Captive audience and all that. However if everyone went AI then I shudder to think what would happen to all the little bars and restuarants. That’s all I am saying. Don’t disagree with you totally David but I know the bars in Los Poscillos suffer greatly because of the nearby hotels offering AI. Having said that I have met many holiday makers on AI in the local bar bemoaning the quality of the food and drinks so I guess it is a question of balance….
