I am going to Costa Teguise on Thursday 27/1/10, I would love to visit my niece staying in Fuerteventura. Does anyone know the best way and cheapest way to get there?

You can rent a car in Costa Teguise, drive to Playa Blanca (30/40 min.), and take the ferry to Corralejo, Fuerteventura (20/30 min.)

you are not allowed to leave the island with a rented car

Depends where in Fuerteventura. Ferry takes you to Corralejo in the very North, but it is a two hour drive to the Jandia peninsula in the South so you may need that hire car. If she’s in Corralejo and you want to save money, bus from Costa Teguise to Arricife and another to Playa Blanca then passenger only fare on Ferry

    Woelli,
I asked the question last November to Cicar (rent a car in the Arrecife airport) and they confirmed me it was possible to take the ferry with a rented car.

Thankyou for your fast responses. It’s Corralejo I would like to visit, so my problems will be at the Lanzarote side of my journey.

    Ok Maxine,

For Corralejo take the Ferry in Playa Blanca, Fred Olsen Company.
Lot of schedules and fastest one.

theres buses that take you on shopping trips to fuertaventura, chances are there will be leaflets in your hotel about this.
last minute excursions do trips for just about everything. and book direct and not thru the reps. you’ll find it a lot cheaper.

it depends how many of you there are but we booked a trip from Costa Teguise to Playa Blanca in November for four of us and it worked out cheaper than hiring a car for the day by the time you had added petrol and insurance, car hire works out cheaper if you are hiring for more days. hope this helps also taking hire car on ferry depends on car hire firm most do not allow the car to leave the island. hope this helps
