Puerto del Carmen is the busiest resort on the island of Lanzarote, Costa Teguise is lot more quiet.

Puerto del Carmen – busy, lively, fantastic beach and everywhere within walking distance, Costa Teguise is a bit soul less – too much concrete. While you’re there, try Arrieta a – small fishing village with a great fish restaurant on the water’s edge. Also the cafe/restaurant at Mirador del Rio, looking down 1,500 ft on the off-shore island of Los Grasciosa – magic. You can do it all in a day in a hire-car.

I liked both resorts. Carmen is more livelier with a great beach. Teguise us slightly more laid back but also has a good beach but we would not go back because it was too windy for us. Our favourite is Playa Blanca. its great. Have a look at it.

Puerto del Carmen is definately the liveliest place. Very much aimed at the “tourist”. If you want roast beef, english breakfast and a pint of John Smiths with your sunshine then thats the place to go. It has developed from a relatively small fishing village many years ago into a very cosmopolitan town. Although quite shabby and tired in places it has plenty to offer if thats what you are looking for. Costa Teguise is much quieter but still has nightlife. It has more of a traditional feel about it than Carmen and in my opinion is much nicer. However having said that its down to personal choice as to what you want from your holiday. If you are looking for lively then Carmen is the place to go. Enjoy your hols.

I agree that tequise is the nicest place unless you are 18 to 30 and looking for clubs -loads to do in carmen but i feel tequise is a bit more up market lots of nice restaurants.I have got 2 boys aged 20 and they would enjoy carmen more -but my daughter 29 loves tequise thre is also 3 or 4 nice beaches all within easy walk
