Cheapest airline to book flights to Lanzarote ?

Asked by: 27th January 2011 ,

Have booked a villa in Costa Teguise for July.  Can anyone tell me the cheapest airline to book flights through and when is the best time to book? Will be flying from London/Luton/Stansted.

I usualy fly with Monarch but recently went Easy Jet – prices much the same from Gatwick – If I were you I’d try searching now and see what prices you get – don’t forget July is always dearer due to school holidays and the earlier you book the more chance of getting the flight times that suit you .

    Hi Carol
we went 5-13th Nov no hold luggage just hand luggage with EJ and for 2 flights was £300 (Monarch same price but for 1 day less!!!) Hand luggage any weight in the case as long as you can put in overhead locker – also a bonus if you print out your boarding pass with EJ then you don’t even need to check in at eithe Gatwick or Arrecife – saves loads of time – be aware that if you go with Monarch you still have to check in and the hand luggagge weight is 10 kilos – you can get quite a lot for your 10 kilos and as for ‘banned’ things – just buy when you get there – hope this helps.

Try Monarch from Luton, book early for best prices, we have booked for July from Birmingham in school holidays £818 for 3 seats.

Hi Viv, have a look at ryan air but don’t forget if you want to take hold baggage to add about £20 each way per suitcase.

Sorry forgot to say it is probably better to book early as prices seem to get more expensive nearer the time. Some flights you will pay taxes on but look at other dates as some don’t have taxes. I think ryan air fly to Lanzarote from Luton and Stanstead also other airports but may be further for you to travel.

Thanks for answers. Have been looking at Ryan Air and have noticed that their prices have increased in the last few weeks. Does anyone have any experience of leaving flights till the last minute before booking – we are quite flexible on the times we travel but don’t want to leave it too long in case we can’t get a flight at all!!

We have noticed in the past few years that its better to book early. Prices tend to rise closer to departure. The days of last minute cheapies seem to be at an end

keep an eye on all air fares.you’ll find you end up talking to yourself, thats to dear, thats cheap, this looks good, and so on.then out of the blue, one pops up,and your at the airport, six days later, with a good deal under your belt. best of luck

Keep an eye open when passing travel agents as they sometimes have very cheap last minute deals. You book the deal with them but when you arrive you use your own accommodation. At the beginning of Jan I saw a week in lanzarote, flight and self catering apartment for £94.You sometimes get a baggage allowance with these as well.

If this is of help.We fly with Ryanair and pay with a prepaid Mastercard to avoid admin charge cost £140 return for 2. We buy toiletries etc after security at airport in Boots. We book Hotel through Travel Republic SC apartment about £150 for a week.or less.. We hire a car from Auto Pluscar at airport £125 all inclusive at airport. Total cost around £400. You have to eat whether your at home or on holiday. If we need more clothes we wash them ourselves they dry outside during the day. Last March we only paid £70 return airfare for both of us.We only take cabin luggage but you can take an extra 15kg case for £30. You are going to a warm climate and only need light clothes, if you take a coat you can put items in your pockets.
Be flexible with dates and spend time surfing net you can save a lot of money.

All airlines have cheap seats and they only get more expensive as time goes by. I flew Easy Jet last year for £170, for two, including a case and speedy boarding. The schedules come out each October and April, towards the end of the month, and if you time it right you can get the cheapest flights available. This year I left it late and paid £300 for two.
