Its very long distance, and there is portion of the trip that is not safe, as you have to walk along the highway.
Better option is to do the “Costa Teguise > Arrecife Cruises’ harbor” promenade one day, and another day take the bus/taxi to the capital Arrecife, and do the “Arrecife > Matagorda” promenade.

Michael is exactly right. Apologies for asking a question in a reply…but are there any plans to create a safe walk route in the non promenade section ie. a way of avoiding the highway?

Perhaps in the future..

You can get through without going on the main highway, i have done this many times on a cycle, not walking though. It does take you through a factory estate though. As you get through Arrecife continue on the path and up the hill. You will come upon a couple of factory units on the left hand side, after a hundred yards or so you will see a path which takes you off to the right, this takes you down a well made winding path towards the small dock area. You will find that the path through this area has a high fence at the end of it, do not despare. If you hop over the low wall on the left and follow the fence down the outside, it brings you out in a transport company yard. I have never been stopped from doing this. Go through the yard and turn left out of their gate. This has now cut out the busy highway section . Follow this quiet coastal road into Costa Teguise. It is a very long walk, hire a bike if i were you. Hope this is of some help !!
