if you do buy there be careful so many rip off shops for those type off goods, been told to avoid the shop in Av el Jablillo the one down near the Galeon Playa and the many along the front in Porta de Carmen.

Every time I went past that shop near the GP someone rushed out to get to go in

Cameras are cheap enough in UK or try duty free would not trust any of the shops in CT rip off merchants

Don’t even think about it !

I had the most horrendous experience leaving my wife in tears and me being threatend and me threatening to call the police. Avoid all these type shops in CT in Ave de Jabillo or along the front at the other end of the main beach.

I felt so stupid and once they have your credit card it’s impossible to get it back. I posted a warning on here a couple of years ago and was horrified when so many people posted that they had had similar experiences.

Be well warned and buy before you go.

Oh and David…….watch out for the steps as well if I remember rightly ?

Frank were you staying at the Galeon Playa last week of November ?

  5. Steve p on Mar 06, 2014

I have heard all sorts of horrendous story’s about those shops, but there must be many people that buy from them as they would not be in business.

another I cant understand why they do not get closed down by the authorities there, I am sure it must put some people off from going to Lanzarote again.

Last visit was middle 2 weeks in October staying at GP.

I was talking with a guy called Frank when we were there in November who said he posts to this site.

at the moment our plan is to go back September or October unless my partner gets asked to coach Swimming at Club La Santa.
November was the first time we have been when she was not working so whole 7 days to our self in CT

Happy Holiday David – did you see the GP Facebook where someone was asking if David and Erica still worked there?

  9. Wendy Middleton on Mar 06, 2014

Like Kevin and Steve P, I too wondered why you were asking this David.

Then, I saw your reply . . . . good idea because it keeps this subject near the top.

Also the camera shops in the Cucharas shopping centre are a nightmare. You can’t walk past without feeling that you’re going to be ‘mobbed’ by the shopkeepers. We split up and walk separately from each other because they seemed less inclined to drag one person in.

A message for anyone – no eye contact – don’t look in the window – AND … don’t go in. It will save you so much hassle. Even if you say you’ve a new camera, they’ll say they have one better etc.

Don’t let this put anyone off going to CT – it really is a lovely place. Just don’t go in the electrical shops.

Hi wendy, asked manuel,Erika on hols at the moment but still working at the galeon, biggest smile in Lanzarote :0),another gripe with me is the guys selling dodgy sunglasses, they are fake and dangerous.regards dave

David that’s our of my gripes too the dodgy sunglass and watch sellers, try to have a meal in the evening and you don’t get any peace just constant flow of them.

Was told by one of the waitress that there is a Chinese wholesaler in CT where you can go and buy them cheaper if you want that sort of stuff.

there was a family staying at the same place as us the (GP) and they brought loads of stuff of one of the guys more fool them I say
