Buying property in Costa Teguise ?

Asked by: 5th April 2016

We are thinking of buying property in Costa Teguise. Has anyone bought property and is there any pitfalls when buying. Can you recommend good solicitors?  Thanks

There are many pitfalls. My advice is to take your time and even try to stay on a complex where you intend to buy before purchasing. We contacted several estate agents and found that the quality of service varied greatly.it took us 4 years to finally buy, but we were considering other resorts too. Our estate agent introduced us to a very Good solicitor who is based in Costa teguise, I am not sure it is allowed to mention names. Allow 10% for expenses over and above asking price. Haggle. Get a Copy of the gazette it has a buying guide every month with useful Information. If allowed I will gladly tell you who our estate agent was and our solicitor but I am not sure the rules allow that. Happy hunting. If you have any further questions feel free to ask

Thanks Kevin. We are going over in a couple of weeks and hopefully going to view a couple of properties. If we need to ask anymore questions I’m sure you will be able to help us out

I agree with Kevin. There are many pitfalls. Unfortunately my experience was that the larger solicitors appeared to be very cosy with the larger developers and so the advice given was not always trustworthy. Luckily I was recommended a small solicitor in Arrecife who appeared to be independent and certainly looked after my interests

Hi Wendy, I’ve bought twice and sold once in Costa Teguise. My advice would be to head towards John Walsh at Location estate agents in Costa Teguise. John is an absolute gent and if he can’t help you, nobody can. John has been on the island for many years and is an expert in all matters relating to property in Costa Teguise. I promise you he will help you every step of the way. My last purchase was in 2012 and if I need anything even now, I always go to John. Best of luck, I hope you find your dream property in CT, my family and I certainly have and John played a key part in that.
