David, at the moment there are approx. 8 bars up for sale / lease in Costa teguise, things are not looking good for these business,s in CT. I think we should start the old forum about All Inclusive again. if it was not for this these Bars would still be doing a good trade

  2. David myers on Jul 06, 2014

Not sure A.I. are the only reason for poor trade in the bars just go and look how cheaply drinks can be purchased for in the supermarkets.
I know people who go self catering never spend any money in the bars or restaurants because its dead cheap to live out of the supermarket
Plus you can get a nasty shock when you ask for the bill at the end of the night if you have had a few drinks
Just look at how many pubs close each week in the UK and where the people are buying there booze from if not the pub its likely to be the supermarkets

I don’t think its the cost of buying a drink in your local that has made going to pubs unnatractive.Where have the pub games gone to,darts, dominoes, crib, skittles etc.Replaced with slot machines,tv’s,karaoke, loud music. They used to be a good place to meet friends and have a chat ,and learn whats new in the area. Many are trying to survive turning them into cafes serving drab meals, burgers and chips etc. There are some great looking bars in CT and the weather makes you think its a good time to pop in for a drink, but most are mainly empty.I could go on,but i won’t,looking forward to my next visit in september, will take on irish john at pool, wind up gary the gooner in the Bulldog, have a laugh with erika in the galeon, chat with duggy in the waterfront, pop into the midlander for a chat and sarnie, visit la vida for some music and have a cake and coffee casa matilde.Nearly forgot, great yoghurt in yog. creations and many more :0)

David, the Bulldog and La Vida are 2 of the bars at the moment that are up for sale, it seems that now the more established bars in CT are finding the pinch

  4. david charles hind on Jul 06, 2014

the bulldog is news to me dave?

  5. Tom Iles on Jul 06, 2014

Without trying to be snobbish, the Bulldog would not be a great loss to CT. You would have to pay me a lot of money to venture inside.

  6. David myers on Jul 06, 2014

D C Hinds next time your in a supermarket whether its in UK or CT just watch the amount of drinks being purchased
The only pubs In the UK doing well seem to be the ones offering good food at a reasonable prices not by offering pub games
You also mention pub games being replaced with slot machines tv karaoke loud music this could describe CT

Maybe dave myers, you have answered why bars are not well used by your last comment.

(czech) Restaurace na Lanzarote rozhodně má šanci! Já si myslím, že majitelé barů zapomínají v čem je podstata úspěchu. Proč nevymění televize, hloupé sledování fotbalu a automaty, vše pod anglickými a německými vlajkami?
Kde je místní hudba a místní kuchyně, kde je vlídné a rodinné prostředí. Podnikání v restauraci se nebojím, chce to jen vědět jak na to. A hlavně zůstat sám sebou!

    • dave love on Jul 08, 2014

takže byste raději měli všechny španělské restaurace a zavřete všechny angličtina a němčina ty???. Myslím, že zjistíte, že existuje spousta anglických a německých restauracích, jak tam jsou manily anglické a německé turisty zde více než jakýkoli jiný národnosti. byste chtěli vidět žádné další změny v Costa Teguise stejně??

      • Petr Kunz (CZE) on Jul 08, 2014

        It was misunderstood. Or mistranslated.
I have nothing against Englishman or Germans !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But the transfer of foreign culture on Lanzarote I think is very wrong.

        • Tom Iles on Jul 08, 2014

Petr. I tend to agree. Given a choice I will always go to a Spanish restaurant or bar. We make sure that we go around the island and try and find the more out of the way places but this is difficult because the island is so small. We are lucky in Costa Teguise that there are plenty of Spanish restaurants but it is very difficult to find a Spanish bar. Unfortunately the influence of Cesar Manrique is slowly disappearing which is a great shame.

Tom where are the Spanish bars ? Would love to try these .. Thanks

          • Tom Iles on Jul 24, 2014

Jayne. Not sure where this will appear as there is not a reply option on your posting. I said that “it is very difficult to find a Spanish bar”, what I should have said was, I don’t know of any. Perhaps other people could suggest some. The nearest I can suggest is at Las Caletas on the sea road to Arrecife. There are numerous Spanish restaurants in CT with bar areas which come the closest. Glad to see you have given up on AI.

Translated – 1. Restaurant on Lanzarote definitely has a chance! I think the bar owners forget what is the essence of success. Why not exchange television, watching football and stupid machines, all under the English and German flags?
Where is the local music and local cuisine, where it is warm and family environment. Business in the restaurant not afraid, wants to know just how to do it. A mainly stay yourself!

    2. so you’d better all Spanish restaurants and close all English and German are you??. I think you will find that there are plenty of English and German restaurants as there are manily English and German tourists here more than any other nationality. Would you like to see any other changes in Costa Teguise as well?

AI definately has an detrimental effect on local bars and restaurants – whoever the owner is – CT has so many it is sadly inevitable that some will fold – Self catering for me every time – cannot wait till our next visit in january – apologies if I am wishing the year away !

All the bars and restaurants are in bad times, in the other way for CT , Avd del Mar, is the same . Places like The Crown , The MIll, Dickens Bar or Isla Bonita are selling too, everybody knows. But all inclusive is so hard keep a business running

    • Wendy Middleton on Jul 20, 2014

Oh no Vic 🙁 Isla Bonita has been there for years.

It is one of the places we went to when we first went to CT about 19 years ago. As far as I know, it has never changed its name either.

  12. Jayne mather on Jul 23, 2014

So sad reading all these replies on here been going to tequise every year for the past few years. … Use to go ai but no more it’s eating out /drinking out . I do hope people eventually realise ai is not all it’s cracked up to be.

    • dave love on Jul 23, 2014

well said Jayne. we have been going to ct now for over 16 years never ever been AI always self catering cannot beat it, even though I have 4 children (well not children anymore)they always enjoyed it and still do

  13. Jayne mather on Jul 23, 2014
