We have just returned and are not fans of the Chinese Buffet style places (although am sure there are good ones).

We especially enjoyed the Shanghai Chinese , nearly opposite the Red Lion. Excellent food and very polite service, reasonable bill and allow you to swap certain items within reason from their Set Menu list. We can never understand why this place isn’t busier than it is.

Also complimentary Honey Rum or Pina Colada afterwards is a nice touch.

Golden city is by far the best!!!

        Not according to Trip Advisor.
        Bejing No 8
        Siglo XX1 No 37
        Golden City No 52
        Chinese Palace No 56
        Jumbo No 57
This just goes to prove that a restaurant is only as good as the time you actually go there yourself.

That is so true – it was last July when I was there & anything can happen in that time.

There are lots of Chinese restaurants in CT all offering an all you can eat buffet for 7 to 8 euros. The secret is to find the one which is busy because then the food is reasonably fresh. We always use Siglo XX1 halfway down Avenida El Jabillo but I’m sure the others are equally as good.

I like Jumbo, they always look after me very well,i”m a bit lazy so don”t do the buffet, only costs me a couple of euros more ;0)

Hi David type your question into Google and it will come up with the Golden City which is excellent!
Its 4.5 euro per person all you can eat Buffet which has a good selection of starters including crispy duck and garlic king prawns to die for. There is a good choice of mains with some Thai dishes, a small selection of sushi and a decent selection of ice cream and cakes if you have any room. We visit Lanza atleast three times a year all inclusive but always visit the Golden city, we’ve never been disappointed!

hi mark, three reasons i go to the JUMBO,just down the steps from broons bar, always sit and chat to the young chinese waitress who loves to see my photos of durham county, always like my meal cooked fresh for me while we chat. Its good to talk when you travel alone regards dave

Not a huge fan of the buffet style that most offer but you cannot argue with value for money – when we go in January (I’m sure its a couple of euros cheaper then) its 4.50 per person in most – the choice being so good you are bound to get something you like

We use one about half way down Avenida Jabillo – note sure of the name – it may ne Golden City – but the premises llok like two knocked into one – not far from Jumbo – they also do a “pick your meat” and have it cooked your way for another couple of euros

Hi Joe, yes we are talking about the same place the Golden City.
Also in reply to David Charles Hind, the David I was leaving the posting to was the originator of the message in reply to his question, I have never been to the Jumbo as we have always been satisfied with the Golden City! I am sure it is excellent but for a family of 3 we can come away fully content for 25euro including drinks, excellent value and quality food!!

Mark, I’m smiling as I took your advice and typed in Golden City in Search and the first thing to appear was “This was the worst Chinese I have ever had” on Trip Advisor.

Directly across the road from jumbos is Asiana chinese or something along them lines and trust me this is by far the best but never gets a mention, me and the gf believe that it’s to do with the fact that it would require people to cross the road as most shops, bars and restaurants are not on that side so just gets over looked. It’s 6 euro so a lil bit more expensive than the others but there is loads more on offer and much better quality. I will be making a visit every time I go back to CT.

    Hope this helps
