Bob, hi there are 2 airport transfers companies at Arrecife airport that I can recommend to you, we have been using them for the last 12 years, both are very efficient and reliable, both have the facilities for taking wheelchairs. all you need to do is advise them when you book with them on there website that you have a wheelchair, you do not need to pay anything until you get to Arrecife airport, these are the companies, just need to search on the web
    last minute transfers (lanzarote)
    canal travel (lanzarote)

Hi Bob. Last year we used www.lastminute-transfer.com. they charged 10 euro per person and 15 euro for the wheelchair which is a fold up one, not electric. That was for from airport to costs teguise and return too. Can your wife manage the steps on a full size coach? Our son could not but could just about manage a mini bus so we emailed last minute first to confirm they could guarantee a mini bus for us. Their reply was that they only use mini buses for wheelchairs. So we happily booked with them. Met at the airport all ok and the driver helped us cos was quite a walk to the carpark. We had to phone them day or two before return journey to confirm pickup time etc. So all was well there again. Only trouble was – a full size coach arrived instead. No prob tho, that driver contacted the manager at the airport and 10 minutes later, a mini bus arrived for us. I would recommend using last minute transfers because they have always been very good. We have used them for trips out too. Only thing I would stress is that you do contact them first before you book and a note goes on your account when you book online and also when you speak to them again to reconfirm your return pick up times, remind them again of your needs, if a mini bus is all your wife can manage. Also when you book online, you can either pay in full online, or you can pay the driver the full amount in cash when he meets you on arrival. If you wife uses an electric wheelchair and cannot manage any steps at all, still contact last minute, because the man you meet at the airport, did ask us did we need a bus with a ramp, so they must have buses that can accommodate for this. But do check before you book. Enjoy your holiday. Angela

We travel to Lanzarote regularly with our daughter who uses a manual wheelchair and has to stay in her chair for the journey. We just go straight to the taxi rank to get an adapted taxi. If there isn’t one waiting either the supervisor or one of the taxi drivers will organise one for you. We have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes. The airport assistance staff who help you off the plane are very helpful and will stay with you and help too if you want. We have done this to all 3 main resorts and never had a problem.
