a night in Arrecife to take in city life ?

Asked by: 18th February 2015

Hi we are staying in Costa Teguise from next thursday, however we are coming a day earlier and were thinking of spending a night in the city of Arrecife, for a change of atmosphere. Any one recommend it for an eve and part of the next day

Is it easy to get to straight from the airport? I cant see any shuttle transfers

thanks

There is a local service bus but it’s so close I’d suggest you get a taxi.

The term ‘city’ is a bit misleading. Arrecife is not a city in UK terms, more of a small town.

We’ve been during the day many times but confess never stayed there. I’m sure it will be OK for the night but it’s not really a holiday resort. Don’t expect Blackpool or Benidorm; or for that matter the bright lights of London or Manchester and you’ll be fine.

Personally I’d suggest you go to PDC for the night if you want to experience another resort.

Thanks for your reply. I am in fact relieved it’s not like Blackpool. We are after a little bit of authenticity before going to Costa Teguise, so it sounds just right

Depends what you want to do Sue. I agree with Frank, if you want 5 miles of bars, restaurants and discos then PDC is your best choice. If you fancy something with bit more of a Spanish flavour then Arrecife is for you. It has plenty of bars and restaurants, especially in the area of the Arrecife Gran Hotel. There is also a nice beach there for when the sun decides to come out. Guess which place I prefer?

As Tom says the area of the Arrecife Gran Hotel there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants. The beach is nice there too never busy in fact in the times I have been there never seen more than a dozen people on it but then Arrecife is not one of the main tourist places on the Island.

As for going to PDC what I read a few weeks ago has put me off going there at night.

Really appreciate you guys replying to me and am pleased that I am going to visit a town for the rather than a pub complex!! ( which I am sure I will be trying to avoid in teguise!!)
Yep will get a taxi …only £8 for the two of us
      Cheers

Just wondering what it was you read Steve regards PDC

    • Steve p on Feb 20, 2015

David what I read did come as a bit of a shock and if it had not been posted by more than one person I might not believe it, but I read there has been problems with certain lady’s offering there services and not taking no for a answer.
I understand its become a big problem along the front but not knowing PDC to well not sure where we have not been to PDC for a few years now since we discovered CT, we only ever went out to PDC to make a change from staying in at Club La Santa in the evenings, but so far I have not seen any more comments on it so may be the police have stamped it out

Arrecife Grand is a lovely place to stay for a night or 2. Nice piano bar with live music with a stunning view. Plenty of bars and restaurants and very friendly. Favourite of ours is La Botica sit and have a drink and the Tapas keeps coming (free) also very good for that special meal.

I was over there at xmas Steve and I called in PDC just the one night and it was really quiet
Never seen any ladies of the night
But it was good being there at xmas (not so many young ones) not like August
There was no one trying to get you in the bars and clubs which I find a complete pain and is the main reason I stay away in the evenings these people don’t like the word NO

it was a post I read a week or 2 ago on one of the facebook Lanzarote pages and several people were saying how bad it was in PDC we only used to go there for a meal in the evening to escape from Club La Santa as my partner was a swim coach and used to have to do 2 lots of coaching per day in 2 hours sessions which of course did not give us much time in the day to do much only once have we been there in the day and that was for 2 hours because of having to be back in time for next coaching session, the only thing I do hate there is people trying to drag you in the bars a restaurant’s I like to look at the menus with out this.

never seen it that busy in PDC but never been in August

Being honest I don’t find Lanzarote as busy these days
When I first visited over twenty years ago waiting for a table to get a meal was normal
Now its take your pick in most resorts
